A TESTIMONY TO ST JOHN'S

How can I be sure of my faith ?

Revelation 3:20

Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come into him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

I feel that Jesus did come into my life when I asked him to, I asked when I first started to regularly attend St John's

Matthew 28:20

Teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

I  know that he is always around me, I can feel his presence, he is in my heart, while at the same time watching over and taking care of all those I hold dear.

John 10:28-29

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

I hope to have eternal life and know that now I have found him I will never let him go. I believe in God, I believe he has the power to help me, protect  and watch over all I hold dear.

John 19:28-30

After this Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to fulfil the scripture), "I thirst."  A bowl full of vinegar stood there; so they put a sponge full of the vinegar on hyssop and held it to his mouth.  When Jesus had received the vinegar, he said, "It is finished"; and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Jesus loves us and died to prove it, I think that when God gave us Jesus we were very lucky, he came  he taught , he loved and he was a man who showed all our emotions. To die for us on the cross was an awful way to make us believe in God again. when I think that he took all our sins on himself it is just amazing. I believe I have the Holy Spirit in and around me, he strengthens me to do good and do Gods will. The Spirit works all the while, I have lots of love and show lots of care to everyone I meet.

What changes have there been in my life since attending St John's ?

More interest in God ?

I have had more interest in God since I started regularly to attend a lovely, welcoming church. Everyone is so kind. I felt when I first visited that I was missing something, I was on the outside looking in, but the congregation spoke my kind of language, I could understand the sermons and the prayers. I just wanted to learn more, to become a part of this special group of people.

Feel different ?

I feel different, I think I can feel the presence of God, I no longer feel alone with any problems. I know that God will help me to understand my feelings and the love, care and affection I have for other people and that the other people ( my brothers and sisters ) have for me.

Read the Bible?

I read the Bible most days. I follow a daily diary which gives me different passages to read each day and I also read a couple of chapters of the Old Testament at the same time.

Desire to worship ?

I like to worship, if this means going to Gods house I will gladly go even though I can only manage this once a week at this moment in time. However I always find time for prayer, I always find the time to pray especially when I am out in the woods, on top of an hill with the sun shining, the birds singing and the green all around me. It is then that I feel really close to God and open my heart to him in my prayers.

He makes me realise deep inside that I'm his child.

I like to think that I am one of Gods children, I have a lot to learn about his ways, how I can do his will, I think it is a precious gift to be known as a child of God. The longer I wait the more my heart yearns for such an honour. I will get there, I have some good teachers and the will to want it.

Vicky.
